Murray River Adventures by Sydney Harbour Kayaks

Cohuna, VIC.

  • Special Guided Kayak Eco Tours - September 2025 / Gunbower Forest (Environmental Flooding Period)

Located at Cohuna, Victoria, 3568.  -> 2 hr 45min from Melbourne Airport.

Gunbower Forest is a vital floodplain wetland ecosystem along the Murray River in northern Victoria, renowned for its rich biodiversity and internationally significant habitat for waterbirds, native fish, and wetland plants. Environmental watering is essential to maintain the health of this forest, as it mimics natural flooding events that support breeding, regeneration, and ecosystem balance.

Without regular environmental flows, the forest risks degradation, threatening its ecological integrity and the many species that depend on it.

Over the past 8 years, Sydney Harbour Kayaks has guided many tours deep within this amazing forest through our Victorian base.

The current environmental watering has just started, and the forest will continue to get a 'drink' through to November.

Sydney Harbour Kayaks plans on conducting guided adventures deep into the Gunbower through this time.
