We have been a leader in the Australian paddle sports market for the past 33 years.
We are located on the beach at the Spit Bridge in Mosman, Sydney.
This dynamic position requires a broad skill-set that will take you from desk to beach and onto water. The right person will thrive in this job and enjoy working in our amazing location, with opportunities to paddle on beautiful Middle Harbour as part of your job.
This role can be physically demanding, and is most suited to an active, fitness-loving individual who would relish an outdoor/indoor role.
This exciting position includes the following duties:
Customer Service
Managing day to day booking administration and customer service in our shop, which includes kayak and equipment sales, booking kayak rentals, lessons and tours, and efficiently answering enquiries.
Beach Team and On-water Activity Assistant.
Setting up equipment for rental (kayaks, surf skis, paddles, PFDs, safety signage etc) for each day of rental. Interacting with customers and setting them up to head out on the water, providing basic paddling instruction.
Assisting with on-water activities such as facilitating our ‘Paddle Polo’ water game.
For the right candidate, we can train you to become a kayaking tour guide.
Ideally you will have one or more of the following skills

Kayak guiding / teaching qualifications, or similar
-
Boat Driving License
-
First Aid Certificate
-
Outdoor Education Certificate (Tafe or other)
This is still a long, hot summer and will be a very busy winter - are you up for a challenge?
This position is available to start NOW.
This casual position has shifts available every day, with the main shifts being Wednesday to Sunday.
You can expect about 2-4 shifts per week / this position will evolve to FULL TIME for the right person.

Professional Sea Kayaking Guides & Instructors (summer 2025.2026)

We have tours ranging from Sunrise, day trips, multi-day and moonlight kayaking tours
Whether you've recently taken an interest in paddling or have already finished your professional guiding and/or instructing qualification we are keen to hear from you!
We now need current or aspiring Professional Paddlers! We have some amazing well-paid, part-time positions starting now.
If you have your Australian Canoeing Certification or an equivalent overseas teaching or guiding qualification (Paddle Canada, ASA, BCU, etc.) then please get in touch.
If your qualifications are out of date then please still get in touch with us, as we will be able to assist the right candidates.
For paddlers who do not have any qualifications so far, please contact Australian Canoeing or Paddle NSW for their schedule on guides and instructors courses.
The minimum you will need to guide or teach is the AC Flatwater 1 Guide's Certificate or AC Flatwater 1 Instructor's Certificate.

Beach Team Members / On-Water Assistant (Summer 2025.2026)

POSITIONS GENERALLY START September through to MAY

The Sydney Harbour Kayaks Beach Team is the driving force behind the smooth running of the rental fleet.
It is a tough job, however very rewarding and you get fit as it's an active, outdoor role.
You will be managing the movement in and out for our entire rental fleet.
We have several on-water kayaking games and activities that you will be involved in, so please make sure you let us know about your kayaking experience.
Specifically, the role involves:
- Setting up the equipment (kayaks, surf skis, paddles, PFDs, safety signage, etc.) for each day of hire
- Interacting with customers and getting them set up to head out on the water
- Helping paddlers get accustomed to the rudder system
- Launching kayaks and skis to kick-start each paddling session
- Assisting paddlers as they on-shore at the end of their trip
- And packing up at the end of the day.
